Written over 700 years ago, The Romance of the Three Kingdoms is one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature.
The part historical and part fictional epic, believed to have been written by Luo Guanzhong, recounts the turbulent period towards the end of the Han dynasty in China. To date, millions have read the epic with the stories told and retold through various mediums.
The story begins in 169 AD and ends following the reunification of China by Western Jin in 280 and takes inspiration from Records of the Three Kingdoms written by Chinese historian and politician, Chen Shou.
