Naked for fur
PETA director of international programmes Mimi Bekhechi said the decision to end the campaign came after a "historic tipping point" had been reached. Kim Basinger was also among the first to share the message — and her daughter, model Ireland Basinger-Baldwin was the most recent. It's mine to do with as I please. And today, I'm using it to stand up for animals and their right to exist as they please — with their skin still attached, naturally. PETA, whose motto reads in part that "animals are not ours to wear", will continue to target fur in other ways such as its ongoing FurFreeBritain campaign and its protests against Canada Goose, which trims its parkas with the fur of wild coyotes caught in steel traps. However, PETA says it may still use nude celebrities in other campaigns.

But after almost 30 years, the animal rights group that convinced dozens of stars to strip down for anti-fur ads is retiring its famous campaign. With a growing number of labels, designers and retailers distancing themselves from animal skins in recent years, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals PETA believes that its long-running awareness campaign is no longer necessary.
