When he first saw the picture in June , deep into the Vietnam War, the composer Hannibal Lokumbe could not shake it from his mind. A terrified, naked girl, arms out like crippled wings, is running down a road with other children. Behind them, soldiers walk, rifles askew. After seeing the picture, Lokumbe — who finished a three-year residence with the Philadelphia Orchestra this spring — immediately composed a piece, his first for strings, Children of the Fire, which will be performed Saturdayat the Episcopal Cathedral in West Philadelphia. Lokumbe will also perform an excerpt from Children of the Fire at the center. And the fire, the fire was symbolic of all I had faced in society as a man of color.

And, in the decades since, the most striking of those images have retained their power. Think of the War in Vietnam and the image in your mind is likely one that was first captured on film, and then in the public imagination. Vietnamese women are among the most gorgeous nations in world. Appearance of people, except their facial proportions, also depends on the body structure and mental health, and with this in the country, things are good. Vietnamese girls each year take part in different competitions of beauty and often get places in the top ten.
