In a 5 minute 55 second video uploaded on October 21, 2020, Nas Daily, the popular Palestinian-Israeli video blogger whose actual name is Nuseir Yassin, accused the Qatari news channel Al Jazeera of misleading their viewers into thinking the he was an Israeli agent.
The media organization had released a video about him in Arabic, accusing him of being part of an Israeli propaganda program. According to Nas, the video was only shown to the Middle Eastern demographic.
"Oh my god... I can't believe this is happening to us! This is fake news targeted at us by a government," Nas says at the start of the video, as he urges his followers to support him.
In the video, Nas, who rubbished the claims made in the purported video, alleged that the television news channel is owned and funded by the Qatari government.
Fake news?
"Everyone knows Al Jazeera. It's one of the largest news organizations in the world. But people don't know that Al Jazeera is a government news organization," Nas explains, as he cites other examples of similar government owned news organizations such as China's CCTV, UK's BBC, and Germany's Deutsche Welle or DW for short.
Nas, who moved to Singapore in 2019, added that the video, which was allegedly released between October 11 to 17, 2020, was produced without any verification or truth.
In Al Jazeera's video, an "expert" is seen speaking in Arabic, accusing Nas and his Nas Academy is part of an Israeli propaganda program that trains people to start loving Israel.
"That is comical!" Nas exclaims. He adds, "In reality, Nas Academy is a great new startup that we started to create more creators! To teach people how to make videos. To teach people how to tell stories, so they go and create their own videos and become their own Nas Daily. That is the truth!"
The 28-year-old alleged that the fake news was published to generate hate and fear, which was spread through numerous other news channels, all of which were sponsored possibly by Al Jazeera.
"So Al Jazeera or its affiliates in another country put government money to spread fake news against an individual," Nas says, as he displays proof of a sponsored video.
Nas adds that the "sponsored thing" was the last straw that broke the camel's back.
The video allegedly had over 2 million views, Nas claims, a significant spike from the average of 30,000 viewers the page receives.
Double standards?
Nas goes on to accuse Al Jazeera of practicing double standards.
"If you don't speak Arabic, you will never notice these stuff. But it's been happening for decades in the Middle East."
He revealed that to English speakers, they would be shown "good news". But to the Arabic speaking world, the news channels show them "fake news".
"To the English speaking world they say, 'Let's remember the Holocaust and never repeat it'. To the Arab world they say, 'Did the Holocaust really happen?'. To the English world they support gay rights. To the Arab world they suppress gay rights! It's two stories for two different audiences."
Nas is not the only one who has accused Al Jazeera of all of the above. Forbes recently accused Al Jazeera of the same.
Nas ends his video by stressing that his mission is to spread the message of equality, respect, and love among people.
