When looking for holiday accommodation, you're bound to head to travel review sites to check out the best places to stay.
And more often than not, you'd probably take a gander at the review section to see whether the place you had in mind is cut out to meet your vacay needs. While a lot of us aren't so bothered by places that don't get perfect reviews, it seems that some people (or the places being reviewed) take it personally. A little too personally.
A resort in Khao Yai, Thailand has threatened to sue a tourist for US$89,000 (?3 million) in a defamation lawsuit after she gave them a six out of 10 rating on travel aggregator website Agoda.
Not open to constructive criticism, it seems.

The tourist, Thai national Khun Khing, was understandably perplexed at the resort's threat of a lawsuit against her, especially seeing that she wasn't outright nasty in her review. Despite this, it seems the damage has been done, at least in the eyes of those who run the resort, who ordered the woman to delete her negative review "immediately".
She was also asked to pay over US$1,400 for every single day that she doesn't comply with this order.

"Or else, she (Khing) must pay the resort ?50,000 (US$1,484) per day in compensation and ?3 million (US$89,000) for the damages," her lawyer, Sittra Biabangkerd said on Facebook.
"The resort also asked her to publish an apology in the newspaper for seven days in a row."
Khing had stayed at the resort for just one night back in mid-December 2021. She rated her overall experience at the place a six out of 10, which actually isn't such a bad review by any stretch of the imagination. Unless you impose unrealistic standards on yourself, that is.
In the review, Khing had described her room view as "just okay", adding that it didn't look as 'new' as advertised.
"The room did not look new as advertised. I could not call the reception from my room, so I had to walk down by myself. Not clean. Night-shift staffers were not so helpful, but some were welcoming," reads her review.
I don't know about you, but this review doesn't seem unequivocally bad? ?\_(ツ)_/?
For now, we can only wish Khing good luck.
