By now we're all used to the mechanics of antigen rapid self-test kits. Put a little saliva here, extract it from the relevant container and add a few drops into a mixing solution there, mix it up, and then add a few drops of that mixed solution onto a COVID-19 test card.
In 15 minutes, you'll basically know whether you've got the 'vid or not. Easy, right? While most of these test kits are highly-accurate, they're not 100 percent reliable. In fact, most self-test kits have a rating of anywhere between 98 and 99 percent. That leaves the very small possibility of getting a false result. This does happen, unfortunately.
The road to 100 percent accuracy.
Medical Innovation Ventures (Mediven), a diagnostics company based in Malaysia, makes their own self-test kits, like a slew of other companies in the same field.
However, their ProDetect COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test, which is manufactured in Malaysia, has just been certified as 100 percent accurate by the European Society for External Quality Assessment's (ESfEQA) External Quality Assessment Program (EQAP).
This makes the self-test kit stand out from the rest, providing absolute ease of mind when getting tested for COVID-19.

Mediven, based in Penang, says the test kit can provide accurate results within just 20 minutes. Just a few minutes longer than most self-test kits out there, but it seems it makes a world of difference. It also works on all existing COVID-19 variants of concern (VOC), including Delta and Omicron.
“As cases are rising by the day, it is crucial for early detection, isolation, and treatment of those infected and to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 infections,” said Mediven Operations Director Lim Li Sze.

Like other self-test kits, the ProDetect COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test is extremely affordable, coming in at just over US$2 or RM8.90.
