In conjunction with International Women's Day, Twitter has started a new campaign called #OwnIt. Through this, they want women to be proud of themselves and their achievements.
They highlighted several women from different communities to really showcase their achievements, and the works they have done for the community. So, without further ado, here's a list of inspirational Asian women you can find on Twitter:
1. Alina Amir (@alinaamir)
Country: Malaysia
Alina is the co-founder of Arus Academy, an academy made to educate underprivileged students. There, students can learn coding, programming, and how to create physical solutions to everyday issues through engaging experiential learning.
2. Wirawan Mosby (@BoomMosby)
Country: Thailand
Wirawan is the founder of the HUG Project, aimed at preventing and protecting children from sexual abuse and human trafficking in Thailand. She also helps child victims of sexual abuse through rehabilitation. She was even recognized as a Global Leader in Human Rights by Vital Voices, and a Trafficking in Persons HERO awarded by the US State Department, making her the first Thai woman to get it.
3. Nazhath Faheema (@nazhath_faheema)
Country: Singapore
Nazhath is the founder and president of hash.peace, a social harmony advocacy group led by youths, and dedicated to inter-ethnic and inter-belief engagements in hopes of combatting racial and religious prejudice and discrimination.
4. Disya Arinda (@disyarinda)
Country: Indonesia
Disya is a clinical psychologist, and as you'd expect, her Twitter is dedicated to spreading awareness about mental heath issues, and ways to cope. There are other fun things too (like memes!), but overall, she uses her platform to speak about mental health.
5. Mina Esguerra (@minavesguerra)
Country: Philippines
A romance author, Mina founded #RomanceClass, a group of Filipino authors who write romance books. Upon realizing that romance writers, who are mostly women, are not welcomed in most literary spaces, she started her own community that encourages women to help each other grow through their writing.
6. Manu Bhaker (@realmanubhaker)
Country: India
An Olympian and gold medalist, Manu is an airgun shooter. She represented India at the 2018 ISSF World Cup and won two gold medals there, making her the youngest Indian to do so. On her Twitter, you can find her training life, as well as local businesses she likes to support, and positive quotes.
7. Yan Kim (@babamba2020)
Country: South Korea
Yan Kim is a writer and an avid reader. As per her bio, she reads economic newspapers every morning, and if you're the type who doesn't like to read long articles about economics, she updates her Twitter regularly with quick summaries. She also writes poetry, and even publishes a monthly poem as an NFT.
