Malaysians who updated their MySejahtera contact tracing app recently might have come across a pleasant surprise on their profile page: A 'Verified' badge, complete with a blue tick.
Of course, for us common folk this is a pretty big deal. It's not everyday you get verified on an app, especially with a shiny blue tick. That's when you know you've made it in life, right?
Feeling a little tickled by their newfound 'fame', ordinary Malaysians shared their joy on social media.
Initially, Malaysia's Ministry of Health (MOH) didn't provide any explanation for this new verification feature – leading a lot of people to gloat about their overnight 'success'.
Some of these reactions are pure gold:

On March 22, 2022, MOH finally explained the need for MySejahtera's 'Verified' badge – you can forget about your influencer aspirations, 'cause you ain't one, honey. ?
According to MOH, people with verified MySejahtera accounts get full access to the app's features. This includes records of your jabs, as well as your precious vaccination certificate. However, this also means that your personal details (name and IC number) are set in stone, which means you won't be able to amend them later down the line.
If, for some reason, you haven't been verified, just tap on 'Verify Now' – you won't miss it, it's red – and follow the steps accordingly.
