Moving to a new place can be a stressful, tiring experience. But the fact that you're moving to some place better is enough motivation to keep on going, until everything is settled.
But imagine moving to a new place, only to be met with a lingering stench. It gets even worse when the smell is so bad, it even disturbs your neighbors. The rotten cherry on top: You can't figure out where it's coming from, leaving you sitting there helplessly, breathing in that nasty air.
Unfortunately for one man in South Korea, moving into his new apartment felt just like that.

A man had just recently begun the moving-in process for his new apartment in the town of Hwaseong in South Korea's Gyeonggi Province.
While the process itself was actually quite normal, as moving traditionally goes, he started noticing a disturbing stench permeating through his new home. And as the weather outside got hotter, the smell naturally got worse. It had been coming from the walls, but without the right tools or equipment, you won't be able to find the direct source.
The man, referred to in Korean media as Mr A, eventually decided to do something about it and called for an apartment-wide inspection, with an official (from the construction company that built the new complex) paying him a visit. When the official visited his home, he inspected everything: The plumbing, floors, walls, and even the ceiling.
What he got out of that inspection was a rather shitty surprise: The putrid stench came from three plastic bags that the official found in the master bedroom ceiling. These bags were filled with literal shit. Human shit.

“As soon as the construction company employees removed the ceiling light, a strong odor began filling the room from that hole. They couldn’t even film or take photos of the evidence [due to the stench] and left with the bags as soon as possible,” the homeowner told Yonhap News.
But how the heck did these literal shit-bags wind up in his ceiling? According to the construction company official, some construction workers might have left them there while renovating the apartment. This begs another question – did the workers not have a toilet? Or did they simply not have the time and energy to go to a designated porta-potty?

“It’s already been 17 days since the bag was discovered, but the construction company is saying that removing the wallpaper and ceiling, sterilizing it, and spraying liquid detergent is a deodorizing operation. It’s been done, but I’m not sure how the construction company did it because the smell is still so strong that it gives me a headache," Mr A said.
The construction company, however, did promise to compensate the homeowner and nearby residents as soon as possible. At least they're taking responsibility for quite a crappy inconvenience.
