In China, a couple enjoyed an unorthodox culmination to their wedding gatecrash ceremony after the bride adorably decided to prank her to-be husband by donning an Ultraman outfit and giving him a superhero's welcome at the end.
As is common in Chinese wedding culture, a wedding gatecrash involves the groom overcoming a series of obstacles (read "games") alongside his groomsmen in order to prove his worthiness to the bride and her bridesmaids.
The hurdles usually involve physical challenges, yucky food tastings, dares, or even simple tests of their creativity or skills (like writing poems or belting out love ballads), whereby "succeeding" at these tests will eventually lead to the groom finally being able to see his dearest before stealing her away to live together "happily ever after".
But for this groom, instead of an alluring bride, he was greeted by none other than the monster-battling Ultraman.
In a cute sequence of events, the groom — after having powered through all his challenges with the help of his groomsmen — finally enters the bedchamber containing his bride, only to find a version of the Japanese superhero posing gallantly on the bed.
Slightly shocked, the groom then almost stumbles backwards before catching himself steady, all while clearly amused by the sight before him.
According to one news outlet in China, the groom had been a huge fan of Ultraman — a fact not lost to the sporting bride, who decided to prank him in order to elicit some laughs on their precious day despite not being a fan of the superhero herself.
The groom said that he'd never expected his beloved of nine years to ditch the opportunity to look beautiful on her wedding day in favor of putting on a superhero costume, but considering that she had, he'd felt extremely touched by her decision.
Responding to the video, many other commenters also backed the man in commending his wife, saying that it was almost selfless how she was willing to make her partner laugh on their wedding day at the cost of looking like a proper bride.
Many others tagged their own partners in the comments, and some even divulged about how they were quite jealous of the obviously pure love shared between the both of them.
Congrats to the lovely couple! Hopefully they have a marriage as strong and as durable as Ultraman.
