Singapore turns 58 years old today on August 9, 2023.
To celebrate the National Day, Singaporean YouTuber and competitive eater Zermatt Neo challenged himself to eat a whopping 58 servings of the island's iconic kaya toast.
Each serving comes with two pieces of toast and that meant Neo munched on a whopping 116 pieces in total. The toasts were stacked up to resemble Marina Bay Sands in the spirit of patriotism.

Complimenting his brunch were several orders of soft-boiled eggs, coffee, tea, and Milo.
Neo filmed his challenge at the 79-year-old Singaporean restaurant, Ya Kun Kaya Toast, which according to him is well-known for its toast.
The close to 14-minute-long video also served as a crash course on the various ways to eat the kaya butter toast. Neo demonstrated that the toast can be eaten as it is or dipped in your choice of hot beverage.

The older generation, he revealed, prefer dipping their toast into the soft-boiled eggs. Some prefer adding a light splash of soy sauce and a dash of pepper into the eggs for taste.
While he struggled towards the end, Neo successfully completed his challenge and wished Singapore a happy 58th birthday.
