We all have urges, and sometimes those urges can't be met with sex. After all, we're currently going through the pandemic, so it's not like you can casually 'visit' your significant other without posing a COVID-19 risk. Of course, if you live with them, that's a different story altogether.

One 51-year-old man in Japan found out the hard way when his 'me-time' resulted with a stroke just moments after climaxing.

In a case report published on the Journal of Stroke and Cerebrovascular Diseases, researchers say the Japanese man (from Nagoya, Japan) in question had developed a chronic masturbation habit, often doing the deed several times a day.
But one near-fatal climax somehow managed to induce a subarachnoid haemorrhage, which is a stroke that causes a blood vessel in the brain to rupture, filling all the 'fluid' areas with blood. This strange phenomenon only occurs when a person over-exerts themselves in a physical activity, which can also include heavy lifting and sexual intercourse.

What initially seemed like intense post-fap headaches turned into profuse vomiting. Thankfully, the man managed to get himself to the Nagoya City University Hospital, where doctors took a CT scan of his brain and found the subarachnoid haemorrhage.
It's safe to say, the man is extremely lucky. Doctors say his current condition upon arrival was life-threatening.
After spending two weeks in the hospital, the man was discharged and was as good as new.

According to Daniel Walsh, a consultant cerebrovascular neurosurgeon at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, the patient's stroke was linked to a sudden rise in blood pressure, caused by a ruptured aneurysm.
Walsh also says that any sexual activity, including masturbation, causes between 3.8 percent and 14 percent of all subarachnoid haemorrhage cases.
"On a positive note, you will probably do more to prevent having a subarachnoid haemorrhage by avoiding smoking, recreational drugs, and managing elevated blood pressure with your GP than abstaining from sex in all its forms," Walsh said.
