Having nice peripherals for your gaming setup is nice.
But all nice things come at a price. Some are affordable, some require a bit more saving. Either way, you're going to have to fork out some money to get what you want in order to level up your setup at home.
When one discerning gamer in Singapore tried his luck at an online giveaway by seller Endless Passion, he wound up not winning anything.
But still determined to get his hands on the giveaway prize – a Logitech G Pro X Superlight wireless mouse – the man decided to buy the mouse with his own money anyway. Because it's nice to treat yourself, especially if you're earning adult money.
The thing is, the mouse costs roughly US$132 (S$180) on the seller's Carousell page. While the man himself didn't have any qualms with spending that much money on the mouse, his instincts told him his wife would probably murder him if she found out.
So he did what any desperate gamer would do: Ask the seller to disguise the order as a 'lucky draw' prize.
As in, the one he had previously entered but lost.
"Bro... also ah....," the man starts off in a private chat with the seller. "Can write lucky draw winner or not? My wife knows I tried to win this mouse on your FB, but she will gan me (fuck me up) if I actually bought it."
Fortunately (and funnily enough), this isn't Endless Passion's first rodeo in fulfilling secret purchase requests. We covered a previous scenario, also involving a man trying to hide his mouse purchase from a loved one.
And so, Endless Passion happily obliged:
Wanting to take things a step further and add more realism to his supposed giveaway 'win', the man asks for his delivery's estimated time of arrival, saying he'll pretend to be shocked at his surprise lucky draw victory.
Or in his words, "I need to act shocked a bit and prepare for Grade A acting".
And voilà, the mouse arrived in a package donning a large sticker indicating the man had won the 'giveaway'.
"Congrats because we care," the box label reads. "Hope you do not get scolding from your"– followed by a photo of some lao po bing, a Chinese pastry that translates to 'Sweetheart' or 'Wife' cake.
It seems the seller had a lot of fun with this as well. Top-class puns.
So did the fake giveaway and 'Grade A' acting work?
Not at all.
The customer who requested for the secret delivery shared an update, saying his wife didn't fall for it one bit. But he expressed gratitude that the mouse is wireless, so she can't strangle him with it.
"Hello, just an update, my wife did not believe it at all even after my top tier acting skills," the man says.
"Thank God this mouse is wireless if not she will strangle me with the cord. Thanks Endless Passion!!!"
In a cheeky reply, Endless Passion tells him they can always try again until it works:
Better luck next time, man.
