Do you suck at golf? Wished you could just nail that putt at hole 9?
Nissan's golf ball might help you score that birdy and not a bogey.
The car manufacturer showed off its golf ball which will roll into the hole no matter how you hit it.
It's so accurate that even a toddler could score a sick putt:
In the ball is a motor that does the rolling and navigation. However, the ball still needs 'eyes' to assist it. For that to work, cameras are placed above the ball's trajectory and that allows the ball to calculate a path to the hole.
This is part of Nissan's ProPilot driver assistant technology which the company plans to unveil with the new Nissan Skyline in September 2019.
The same technology will help the new Skyline navigate roads and traffic by using map data, cameras, and a radar.
Nissan is not the only company that made self-rolling balls. Another company by the name of Sphero also created a motorized ball. It might not be using overhead cameras to guide it into the hole but you can remotely control it using a companion app.
In case you're wondering if golfers would be using Nissan's balls (pun not intended) to get an edge in competitions, the process of setting up the cameras will make it pretty obvious they're cheating.
In addition to that, Nissan doesn't seem to have any intention to sell these balls. So you've nothing to worry about.
